    Spanish food market

Local food markets hold a special place in Spanish life and are vibrant hubs of food, culture, and community and are an essential addition to any Barcelona food tour.

These bustling spaces are more than places to shop; locals share news and stories and celebrate the food here. The Mediterranean diet is on full display, with fresh produce, meats, seafood, and other regional specialities at different stalls, all vying for custom.

The markets showcase Spain's rich culinary heritage and seasonal abundance, and all the ingredients for iconic dishes like paella or gazpacho can be sourced here. For visitors, markets offer an authentic glimpse into Spanish life, blending flavours, aromas, and the lively spirit of daily routines.

    Tapas food tour

Tapas are an indispensable part of Spanish life and are a unique way to share and enjoy various dishes in one sitting.

Originally simple bar snacks, tapas have evolved into an art form, with countless regional variations showcasing the diversity of Spanish cuisine.

The tapas concept revolves around small, shareable dishes, making them perfect for socializing and enjoying a leisurely meal with friends or family.

From classic options like patatas bravas (crispy potatoes with spicy sauce) and jamón ibérico (cured ham) to innovative modern creations, tapas cater to all tastes. Seafood lovers can opt for dishes like gambas al ajillo (garlic shrimp), while vegetarians will love pimientos de padrón (blistered tiny green peppers).

Tapas are more than just food—they're a way of life in Spain, encouraging a relaxed, communal dining experience that embodies the country's warm and welcoming spirit. One of the best ways to discover them is on a private food tour!

Excellent lunches and tapas tour

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Barcelona, adored the Gaudi cathedral, loved the concert hall. Our two lunches and tapas tour were excellent and gave us a wonderful introduction and experience of Barcelona’s food and bars. Santa Maria del Mar was quite breath taking. 5 stars and a big thank you from us both.

I couldn’t recommend this more!

Three friends and I booked the back street tapas tour. We met our guide, Anthony, at a local market where he showed us around, explained the local delicacies, and of course got us some samples as well. We then went to the most incredible tapas restaurant in the Gothic Quarter. Anthony took care of us, and ordered the most amazing dishes always asking us what we preferred and what we liked. We finished up the evening at a second restaurant for some incredible desserts and cava.We were genuinely sad when the tour was over. If you visit Barcelona, this should be the first person you contact!
